identifying your target market

There is no doubt that identifying targeted audience will surely profit your business.so you need to find them , knowing them and messaging them. for this you should segment your customers into  small group and this process is known as customer segmentation.

customer segmentation.

Take your broad target people and break them into smaller target people who have more common factors. When you have focused segment customer , you save money and the marketing will be more effective. this might be done  demographic factors like in age, gender, likes . income, educational status, marital status and so on.

but this would not be enough for finding similarities .

the second step is to do layering.one of the method of layering is psychographics.

psychographics includes  groping of people according to their beliefs, opinion, attitude, interests and likes..

similarly you can use behavioral attributes to know about someone's interest like say targeting people who buy novel and of specific writers.etc.

Another market segmentation technique is need based segmentation technique. with this you divide customer on the basic of their needs. as each have their distinct needs . though with same product may have different needs and you should be able to provide with that so specific segments of customers should be done for effective marketing.

creating persona about your client , their interest and obstacle is a better way for marketing.
